Chicago
Culture - The diverseness of Chicago is evident
by the very many nationalities of the people that
live in the area and the variety of museums, theatres
and other sites it has to offer. In the past various
nationality groups tended to section off their own
separate areas of the city. For instance, a group
of Italians would all live in a section of the city
and they would call that little part of the land the
“Italian section”. There were “Polish”
and “German” sections also. It was like
that for many years, but today they all live together.
What’s even nicer is they all get along. Chicago
is home to millions of people with diverse nationalities
and backgrounds living, working and playing side by
side.
The Culture in Chicago is one of
the most diverse in the nation. The Chicago Cultural
Center is the first free center of its kind and is
also home to the largest Tiffany stained glass dome
in the world. Chicago is also home to the largest
collection of impressionist paintings outside the
Louvre in Paris. This collection is located in The
Art Institute of Chicago and is definitely worth taking
the afternoon for a visit.
This grand city of Chicago is also
known as the candy capitol of the world, with candy
giants such as Tootsie Roll, Fannie Mae Candies and
E. J. Brach and Sons basing their corporations in
Chicago. Following suit were such corporations as
McDonald’s and Kraft to name only a few. Companies
as well as individuals love the Chicago area for its
well-known exquisite culture and sites making it a
fantastic area for business dealings as well personal
pursuits.
There is something for every taste imaginable. With
over 40 museums, 150 theatres, over 6,000 restaurants
and ethnic cuisine one can be enthralled and entertained
every day of the year. With the largest public library
in the world, The Harold Washington Library
Center, which has over 2,000,000 books by
the way and so many educational pursuits and a whole
lot more Chicago is where great people enjoy life
to its fullest.
